Happy Tuesday!!

Whew, almost time to get off work, thank goodness! It's been an awfully long night!! Anyways, I wanted to hop on and wish everyone a Happy New Year!! I won't be logging on for a few days (still no laptop) but wanted to tell you all what I was doing on New Year's Eve. DH bought tickets to tour the Biltmore House in Asheville,NC and then to the special night time show they are having this year! I've never been there during the holidays and can't wait to see all the trees decorated!! I am planning on taking LOTS of pictures! I will post some when I get a new computer!

As for stitchy stuff...still poking along on a Noah's Ark birth sampler for my sorority sister who is due in April. It's a really cute design. I finished up the LOVE stamp. It was a really fun quick stitch that has been on my to do pile for years, so I am happy to have it completed.

Merry Christmas!!!

Merry Christmas Everyone! I will not be online tomorrow so wanted to say hello and send warm wishes to everyone out there! Hope you all have a safe holiday and Happy New Year!!! Everything will be fine in '09!!!

Updates.....

The Dachshund is finished!!! I am making him into a no sew cube and will be gifting it on Sunday afternoon! I will post a picture when I get my new computer.

On that note, the insurance paperwork was sent off yesterday, thanks DH. So....I guess now we wait. I am hoping that we can get a price for cashing out and taking deprecation before moving forward. I just don't want to end up with a "whatever" brand computer and not be happy. I would rather lose some money and get what I want, ya know?!?!?

I started a new piece...yeah, I know, that start-itis again, lol! This one is really simple and a quick stitch. It's a LOVE stamp, like a postage stamp. It's pretty neat. I may try my hand at a flat fold for finishing this one, but we'll see.

Laptop stolen!!!

Hello all! Our house was broken into yesterday. Two laptops and a flat screen TV stolen. I am SO upset about my laptop!! It's not the laptop itself, but all the data on the hard drive. I've now lost all my pictures, music and TONS of cross stitch patterns, both freebies and pdf paid for copies of patterns. I can't replace those things! UGH! My computer was password protected, so the clowns who stole it can't use it, but I'm afraid that means they will just trash it instead of taking it to a pawn shop. BAH HUMBUG!!!

On a higher note...I met Rachael Ray yesterday! She was in NC doing a book signing for her new cookbook. I got my pic taken with her, so hopefully when I can get my hands on a copy, I will post it!

This cat has the right idea!! I am on night shift right now, and am SO ready to go home and get some shut eye! The first night back is always hard for me, because I don't get enough sleep during the day.

Good news is....I got a little stitching time in last night. Maybe about 2 hours. I am making progress on my little Dachshund and am hoping to finish him this weekend. I will post another progress picture on Thursday.

Guess what I'm doing?!?!?!

Stitching!!!! Can you believe it? It's been about 3 mos since I've had any time, or felt like doing any stitching. I am working on the Dachshund for my sorority sister. I intended to get this done for Christmas, and I can do that with no problem, BUT our Christmas party is on Dec. 7th, so I'm definitely NOT going to make it!! Guess this will just be an extra gift a little closer to Dec. 25th!! I will post a progress pic on Tuesday, as I have to return for night shift again tonight. Hope you all have a great day!

Crazy Times!!

Sorry I haven't been around much guys!! Life has just been crazy and I haven't done any stitching at all in a few months. I am wanting to get back to it now, but I think the couple projects I had going will not be done in time for Christmas, YAK!!! Hope you all are doing well, and I will post again soon!!

Still No Time to Stitch.....

...but we did go to the 1st drag race in Charlotte!! It's a super nice facility, and I can't wait to go back next year. I had fun, but here's a breakdown on how Saturday went.....

We get to the track no problem. Get parked, go inside the gate, go find our seats. Still no problem. I start taking pictures, tons of them, and my batteries run out. I left while some of the Top Fuel cars still qualifying, therefore missing that, but should be back in my seat for Funny Car qualifying. Get back to my seat, and I have TWO batteries not FOUR. OMG this will not work. Not to mention, when I got back Funny Car had started and I MISSED JOHN FORCE!!!! I go back to my seat, really ticked off now, and tried to use the old batteries for just one or two more pics. I couldn't stand to miss Ashley Force! Got a couple more pictures (juicing the last of the old batteries) and saw Ashley's first run. Afterwards, DH and I go for lunch (my head is about to explode from a headache) and to walk around a little. We went to get some autographs and some tshirts. DH goes to the restroom, and comes back out and says "Where are your tickets??" I look down, and both my tickets are gone.....fell right out of my plastic holder on my laynard! OMG, no ticket for tomorrow, it's GONE! In a panic I go back looking for it, but with a SOLD OUT event, I know someone has picked it up and realized they have a GREAT seat and kept it. Yup, no luck finding my ticket. So, we returned to our seats, I'm steaming, partly from teh 93 degree heat and the other from being so stupid, and for losing that much money essentially. So after qualilfying, we went to Ruby Tuesday's for dinner and to the hotel to spend the night, the room already paid for, so we certainly weren't going home!!

Anywho, no time to stitch now in about two weeks!! I am hoping I can get some time in the next couple nights. Gotta run and get something to eat! Happy Stitching all!!

Happy Labor Day and Magic Hat SAL progress...

Hey Ya'll,

This is actually last week's progress, (pardon the hoop marks) but I didn't get a chance to take a pic and post. He's coming right along. Now that I outlined some of the "white blob" he looks a little more snowman like, LOL.

I baked my first batch of Amish Friendship Bread yesterday! OH MY it's so yummy!! I'm glad I gave all my starter away....two loaves of this stuff is quite enough!

Introducing Blackie...

Here's Blackie! He's a quiet little boy, but LOVES his head rubbed. He just comes over and sits beside you waiting for you to notice and give him some love. He gets so excited, he drools!!! He looks just like my boy furbaby I lost a little over a year ago. I hope you all enjoyed meeting my Aunt's 4 children. I love them all!!

I got a chance to go to The Lazy Daizy today!! I'm so excited. I really like this LNS. It's really a shame that the store has been there since 1982, and I just found out about it! Fear not, I will go back! I picked up a couple patterns while there, but made sure I was on the mailing list and frequent buyer plan!!! Yippie!

A Little Progress...

Hi Ya'll,

I decided to stitch Magic Hat on opals fabby. Royalty Flair from Enchanted Fabrics. It will look great once it's complete, but I'm a little nuts stitching the snowman (under the hat is the beginning of a snowman) because he blends into the fabric badly. He will be outlined in black so he'll jump right off the fabric soon enough I guess, LOL. The hat is done except for the red berries. I haven't decided if I will do the french knots or use beads.

I am hoping to get some stitchy time this weekend, but am working day shifts, AND working some overtime, so we'll see.

Well, guess I'll get back to the Olympics. I'm waiting to see diving tonight!!

A little stitching....

Hi All,

I'm back from SC! I had a wonderful visit with my Aunt, and her 4 furbabies! On the way back home, we got stuck in stop and go traffic for almost 2 hrs. There was a road crew doing some sort of paving AND a tree service trimming trees by the highway, both within one exit of each other. Can we get a little more organized with time please?!?! Anyway, I did get a little stitching time in on Saturday. I worked on the monthly SAL for SanMan Originals. It's called Magic Hat. I will post a pic in a couple days. Not too much else going on right now!

TGIF part 2!!

OK, this is my Precious Moments WIP. Part of Me Wants to be Good. Haven't stitched on this one in a little while. Guess it needs to be added back into rotation! It's for me, so I don't feel the pressure to get it done quickly!

This is my Magic Hat WIP. It's a SanMan Originals board member chart. It's part of a monthly SAL. This one will go with me to SC this weekend!

The Dachshund piece! This one is for a Christmas present for one of my sorority sisters. The top pic is what it will look like finished, minus the frame. This one will be finished as a cube. I already have the perfect fabric for the backing.

Happy Tuesday!!

OK, here they are! I have completed 6 of these Soldier Kissing Pillows (more info on previous post). I have some wonderful sorority sisters who are stitching some also, but I think I am done. I still have a couple more projects to complete by Christmas, so I need to focus on those.

I love this piece. So simple, but says so much! Not to mention HOPE is my middle name!!! I think I may finish this as a no-sew cube. I have a cute little bear who would make a great partner to this finish, and maybe raffle them off for breast cancer?!?!?! Hmmmm...just a thought!

My Stash Arrived and LHN finished!!

***Happy Dancin'*** My Bday stitchy stash arrived! A little Lizzie Kate, My Big Toe, Stitch Kitty, and more! I decided to try the John James gold plated petite needles, and got a needle minder. I have found when I do have a little time to stitch at work, I lay the needles down only to get lost in the abyss!!

Finally!! I thought I would get around to finishing this piece last weekend, but instead, spent most of my time off working in the house. I have finally got all my stitchy stuff in one room! Now I'm waiting to find the perfect chair that is comfy and will be suitable for hours and hours of happy stitching!!

I'm on night shift this weekend, and have mandatory training on one of my two days off next week, so I don't think I will get in much stitching in the next few days! A week from today I am going to visit my Aunt in SC!! I can't wait to see her! Guess that's all for now!

Today is MY Day!!!

It's my bday!!! DH is out of town, BUT gave me a GC to www.123stitch.com . I have already ordered some stitchy stuff, and maybe it will arrive today?!?! I will post a pic of my new stash as soon as it arrives! I have lunch or dinner plans today with a friend and some cleaning to do around the house. Tonight I've been working on my LHN piece. I was almost finished and realized that I had a section I miscounted somehow. Guess who paid me a visit?!?!?! Darn FROG!!! I will finish the LHN piece tomorrow or Sunday and post a pic. I also got a chance to work on the Dachshund piece. It's coming along pretty well. I will post a progress pic of that one as well.

Well, I'm off this weekend, whoo hoo! Tomorrow I will be sleeping part of the day (coming off night shifts) and then hoping to hang out with my childhood friend that I was recently reconnected with! Then back home to do the dreaded laundry, LOL. Sunday is church with Granny, then off to do some scrapbooking with my sorority sisters!

Hi All,

A little more progress was made on the LHN piece today. I was hoping to work on another WIP tonight, specifically the Dachshund piece, BUT going into work at 3am this morning, is telling on me! I have been nodding for about 2 hours now! Guess it will truly be an early night! So much for watching the Nationwide Race!! Thank goodness for DVR's!!!

On another note...I purchased the O Canada chart today. I don't even live in Canada, but have always loved this piece! A very nice lady from the 123 MB sent me her color conversions also! I also recieved something from my wish list on 123. My GRITS pattern arrived yesterday! Thanks Patti!!

Here's the progress on my LHN Ye Olde Coffee House. It's been a quick stitch so far! I plan on working on it some this weekend, and then back to more Soldier Kissing Pillows.

Went to Trader Joe's today with Mom. I just love that place! Also ate lunch at Jason's Deli. Great food. A really nice day all around!

I managed to get a few hours of stitching in tonight. I am currently working on a LHN piece called Ye Olde Coffee House. I am thinking of keeping this one for myself! I don't know exactly why, but I just fell in love with this one! I will post a WIP pic in the next day or two.

My start-itis has gone away, at least for now. I have two other WIP's going, but one is for Christmas, so I can't let that one hang for long, lol.

Soldier Family Kissing Pillows

Hi All,

I am helping out with a project for the Evergreen chapter of EGA in Seattle Washington. They are making Soldier Family Kissing Pillows. A deploying soldier gives the pillow kisses and then leaves it with their children to keep until the parent comes home. I will complete a few more squares like this one and send them off to be finished into pillows!

Happy As A Pig is finally finished! I decided to make a new sew cube to finish the piece. This is my 1st attempt at a cube, and I am pleased with the way it turned out even though I totally forgot the batting!!!

I have found a new passion. Gingher Designer Series Scissors, the 4" ones. Wow, they really are nice. I will be on the hunt for the ones I don't have on Ebay!! I was guided by Debbie to visit www.mybigtoedesigns.com so that I can get a look at the ones already released to the public. Thanks Debbie!! I also saw some scissor blocks (like ones for knives) for displaying the scissors. Too cute!

Hi All, worked an extra shift today, but got to leave early and go see Miss Gail at the hospital. She looks great. Swelling is almost gone and she was sitting up and talking. In fact, she had a room full of people when I arrived today! I took her a new pig for her collection, and he's keeping her company! Here he is.....

Hi All,

Mom had a bday yesterday, Happy Bday Mom!! I was off work today. Got some laundry done and did manage to get about an hour of stitching in tonight. I am hoping to get this piece done this weekend, so that I can move on to a Christmas present I am working on. Sorry for the hoop marks...I don't iron until it's finished! Not much else going on here, so that's all for today!

On the Night Shift....

Man, a lot of drama at work tonight!! I came to work expecting to be really busy because of fireworks and shots fired calls, BUT it was storm damage that kept it hopping! Then a flood in the building!! Well, not really a flood, but about 2-3 inches of water on the floor making it's way towards the radio room with all our equipment and wiring! YIKES! Some sort of drain was clogged on the 1st floor and was causing water to seep out into the hallway in the basement, YUCK! Here I am with the bottom of my jeans pulled up to my knees, trying to mop out as much water as I can until help arrives. Lovely picture I'm sure, LOL. Anyways, flood is over, and it's almost time for me to go home....about 4 hours left until my weekend OFF!!

Well, it's officially the 4th...it's 2:58 am and I am working night shift. 6:45am can't come quick enough! I did manage to stitch for about 1 hour tonight, but without much quality sleep today, my eyes are crossing up on me, (LOL) so I better stop. Made a little more progress on the little piggy for Miss Gail. That's all for now.....

Hello again! I was able to stitch about 3 1/2 hours today. I am happy with the progress. Hope you enjoy looking!! I am back on night shift Thurs and Friday night, so maybe if it's not too busy, I can sneak in a couple hours of stitching!

Happy Hump Day!!

Morning All! The piles of laundry await me, but I am most excited about starting a new stitching project today. It's called "Happy As A Pig in..." by Waxing Moon Designs. I will be stitching this for my co-worker who is in the hospital. She is a HUGE pig lover and collector, AND it's her birthday this month. Hopefully I will get this little fella stitched and framed before her bday. OH, and I'm stitching it on purple fabric because she LOVES purple too!! OK, off to the laundry! Check in with you later!

Itchin' To Stitch

Good Morning all! I have the biggest desire to stitch this morning and CAN'T!!! I am working an extra shift today for my co-worker who is in the hospital. She is in good spirits but has a really long way to go. She has another surgery (this being her 3rd so far) Thursday. I am REALLY hoping to get to the hospital today and visit with her. I have been working every day since her accident and after work she is already asleep so I haven't seen her. I will feel much better when I can actually lay eyes on her.

Tomorrow will be housework, and stitching, then back to work on Thursday night!! Gotta run for now. They don't pay me to blog!!!

I've Been RAK'd!!!!

For those of you who don't know....RAK stands for random act of kindness. A very nice lady from the SanMan Board stitched a beautiful piece for breast cancer awareness. I loved it so much I sent her a message asking for the designer name so that I could purchase the pattern. She told me she had an extra and would sent it my way. To my surprise *happy dancin'* she sent me some fabby, hand dyed floss, brads, stickers, a button, AND the pattern!!

Today a dear friend and co-worker of mine is having surgery. She was involved in a really bad car accident and had to be air lifted to a local hospital with several injuries. She will have to wear a halo after surgery. This will be hard for her because she is such a "go getter" and never stays in one place too long. So....anyone reading this on my blog, please pray for her.

On another note, I got a new cross stitch pattern in the mail today. The nicest lady sent me a pattern and the floss to finish it with too!! How nice of her! I can't wait to start it. It's another one for breast cancer awareness.

Imagine my surprise when I picked up my sheet to put in the washing machine and saw this little fella!! I gently picked up the sheet and took it outside to free him before my furbaby saw it!

Hi All,

Getting ready for another night shift. I like to try and stay up late the night before a night shift so that I can get plenty of sleep. My night shift is from 6:30pm to 6:30am. To help me stay awake I started Lizzie Kate's Peace Love and A Cure. Ironically, I participated in the Susan Komen Breast Cancer foundation walk yesterday. I raised $620.00 this year! Back to the stitching....I did about 2 hrs of stitching on the piece last nite. I am hoping that I can work on it a little tonite at work during the slow times.
